Active Reading StrategiesActively reading is more than just going through the motions and checking off page numbers. It means being engaged with the text. (Ask questions, etc!)
The strategies below will help you engage and interact to optimize (or increase) learning while reading your chapter book and/or textbook.
EvaluateForm opinions about what you've read, both while you're reading and after you've finished. Develop your own ideas about characters and events. Make a logical guess or come to a conclusion based from the story or text.
