More instructions on Canvas! (coming soon!)
I find that most students worry the most about the presentation portion of this book talk assignment. It's understandable! You will be talking in front of the class... in English...! Hopefully, you've taken Listening and Speaking classes, which usually require multiple presentations in front of a class. This presentation will be similar (if not easier).
Right now, the most important thing you can do in preparation of your presentation is READ YOUR BOOK! You cannot present on a book you haven't read. I promise that as we get closer to the end of the semester, I will provide more details about the presentation, (even examples) but for now, please read your book!
Every semester I have students who think they can watch the movie of their book the night (or week) before their presentation. These presentations always earn a poor grade. Your presentation must be on the book your read, not the movie you watched.

Keep in mind...
- Movies are different from the book
- I have read nearly all the books on the list and have seen their movies, so I can usually tell if you've read the book or are trying to "cut corners" and do your presentation based off the movie.
- You will, essentially, be "talking" an essay, so make sure you pay attention to how American essays are organized, etc.
- Follow the Writing Process (brainstorm, outline, etc.) as you prepare your presentation.
- You will not be allowed to read your presentation. (You will lose points if you do)
- You will be allowed up to 4 index cards (1 for each minute)
- The best presentations come from students who sincerely read and finish their books!
