STEP 1... Research book titles using the goodreads link provided!
|
You will be with your book the entire semester, so take this researching assignment seriously. You will tell me about three (3) choices, but you will only read one book this semester.
Your choice will be approved by me, but I need you to research more than one. Your final choice will be a book that:
|
You will research all the books on the given list. Researching means:
- reading the full summaries
- identifying the genre (type) of book
- finding the total number of pages (we're looking for something close to 200-300 or more pages)
- reading reviews from other readers and/or seeing the ratings other readers have given
- rating your interest in reading the book (your opinion, based on your research)
Start with the list I provided. If, after researching the ones on the list you feel like you can't find three or more that you might want to read, you can:

STEP 2...email your instructor!
You must write me, your instructor, an email. Tell me about three (3) books you found on the goodreads list that sound interesting to you. Your email must have a beginning (greeting), middle (body), and ending (closing).
In the body of your email, include the following information for each of the three books you chose to tell me about.

STEP 3... look for a reply in your email!
You'll only need to wait about a day or two before you hear back from me. I will tell you which one of the three books you will read this semester. I'll also give you some ideas of where you can buy your book and some tips to help you be successful with your specific book choice.
Please reply back to my email so I know you received it. Ask any questions you have. I'm here to help!

STEP 4... go get the book!
Click HERE to learn where to get your book. Get it as soon as possible! Once you have your book, have it with you every day, especially for class. You never know when you will find moments to read a little (maybe at the bus stop, while waiting for class, etc.)
I will often check to see if you have your book with you in class, so be prepared. If you don't have your book, you may lose participation points and/or points toward your total book talk grade. Besides, we will often do free reads, which I'll explain after we finish the first step in our book talk assignment.
